Exclamation Best way to backup db/files

    Hello friends!

I was wondering what would you recommend as the best way to backup db & files? I've been always doing the old fashion SFTP way, but I find it tedious. Is there a better way?

I backup at least twice a day. I use Webmin.

    Thanks.

If you perform backup frequently I guess you need incremental backup. rsync is the best way for incremental data backup.
For databases very good solution is to run mysqlbackup on remote backup server and connect to main server through tcp with --compress option.

Very good idea to use separate harddrive (if server is whole yours) with rsync backups and upload it's data via ftp once in a week. Performance will not be slow and data availability good too.

    Just a question/possible solution ..

Would it be possible to syncronize your database with a mysql database on a another server ? In that way, if your main server goes down... You would save the time spent on backup up the database again (if we are talking huge amounts of data/mb's) and just upload the website/system again and change the MySQL server in your system/script?
