Software raid 1 with 1.2 load avg normal ?
I have a fresh server (Core2Quad Q9300, 8GB, centOS 5 64bit) running soft raid1.
To my surprise, the system's load average with no program running with exception of the normal background processes is at 1.2
This is my first time running a software raid, so I'm not sure if this is a normal behavior for with all servers with soft raid.
The software raid is running the native linux raid support.

Not unusual for the first few hours after the initial OS load, the second drives needs a bit to perform the initial mirroring of the first.

The RAID is initializing, so it's normal to see a higher load.
Use this command to check the RAID's status.
# cat /proc/mdstat
