Wanted UK dedicated servers, big and feature rich data center.
I would like to know if there is any data center in UK that has comparable options to softlayer.com in the USA. I want to rent multiple servers and my main concerns are below. If you have such a data center please contact me.
1-Owns its own data center. At least 5 years in business. At least 3000 dedicated servers.
2-Has modern quad core servers, Intel or AMD, nehlam preffered.
3-Rents memory for cheap or one off setup.
4-Generous allotment of bandwidth, at least 3000Gigs per server.
5-Free bandwidth between my servers in the same data center preferably with a second nic at 1 Gigabits. ( most important ). Possibly and this is a big plus the ability to aggregate the bandwidth of multiple servers like the vlan of softlayer, so that if i have 4 server wit 2000 gigs each, i can use 8000 gigs in total and not worry about which is using more bandwidth than the others.
6-At least a 100mbit connection to the internet, no throttling what so every, multiple connections to the internet.
7-Availablity of shared and dedicated firewalls, IPS that can span my multiple servers is a big plus.
8-Shared backup storage ( for free or fee ) is a plus especially offsite storage.
9-Availablity of KVM over ip is a big plus, either dedicated or daily rentals. so is dedicated reboot port.
10-24X7 support on site, not pager on non work hours. Only professionals apply, if you do not man your data center 24X7 you are playing not working.
11-do not need managment, but i need support that knows when they have a network or hardware issue, i hate explaining that my server is running but your network is not.
I will rent anywhere between 3-5 servers depending on your configurations and prices.
Remember if you cap your bandwidth in any way, please do not waste my time or yours, i need quality bandwidth, this is not for reseller hosting but for a portal that looks at user experience first and foremost.
bit of an aside, but RapidSwitch only rent servers individually from their datacentre in Maidenhead ? (- their parent company iomart has 4 more datacenters around the UK, but maybe not offering one-off server rentals).
I tried pound host, they seem to be good, but they have one major problem, i need a multiserver setup, dedicated mysql behind 3 web servers or so and they said that traffic between the servers ( mysql and the webservers ) counts from my monthly transfer and that is really a load of XXXX.
If they solve this issue ( or serverloft for that matter same problem ) I would get 4 servers from them.
Their bandwidth is cool but their depth of product offerings is slim and the hardware is old, no nehlams and not one AMD server. The old xeons and core 2 just do not cut it any more.
I do like the fact that i can pay for memory and HD as a one time payment and save on monthly costs. But still, serverloft is much cheaper hardware wise, but both count internal traffic between servers as transfer which is amazingly illogical.
Seemslike i will expand with softlayer.

I know the planet has "European" servers now. I don't know specs on the facility and if they actually own it. I think they started offering euro-hosting within the last few months.
I asked them the other day regarding this. Their packages start at $550 a month. He didn't give me the full specs, he just called it the "Xeon 3360", but I'm presuming it's the same specs as the 3360-based server in the US datacenter (250 GB HDD/2 GB RAM/2TB traffic). Even half that would be excessive.
