Do you testing server before making it active?

Let's say you ordered new server,do you make active same moment(install httpd server and all other components)or you running test before like memory and hardware test?If yes, which programs you would recommend to test fully hardware?

I've found Source dedicated server to be a good test of new hardware, and an excuse to get some Team Fortress 2 in and call it work.
I used to run the oldest commercial Mumble host.

If you have any KVM access you can boot linux secure cd and run mhdd + memtest86

The only possible thing left to break is motherboard (whole server will be most likely offline if CPU is bad, however most likely it is RAM or HDD who crashes the server)
