I just spoke with NameCheap's customer support through their on-line chat. They've evidently been an "ICANN Accredited Registrar" since 2007, but are using Enom's API even now. The lady at NameCheap said that when they've finished with their systems, all Enom-held domain names registered through NameCheap as a reseller will be automatically shifted over to NameCheap.
I'd noticed that a few domain names I registered recently (27 July 2009) are using nameservers that belong to NameCheap, but that an older domain name registered and held at NameCheap is still using nameservers belonging to Enom. I've always had generally good experiences with NameCheap, and am satisfied with them. Still, it occurs to ask, what difference it will make as a practical or theoretical matter when all domain names at NameCheap are no longer at Enom?
I do not purchase hosting services from NameCheap, only domain name services.
