    Server Problem

    Hi,

    My server stop working several times a day. After manual reboot, server will come online.

    Thanks for your reply.

    Before one week we had upgraded kernel to 2.6.18-128.2.1.el5PAE

    Seems problems happened after that time. Yesterday we reverse back to old kernel 2.6.18-128.1.16.el5PAE

    But still the problem exists.

    At the same time, we face problem with emails and FTP. Email login won't work, it will show Bad Mailbox error while login to webmail. Through email client it won't download emails if mails there in inbox.

    Using ftp, upload/rename failes. Getting error as

    Response: 553 Rename/move failure: Read-only file system

    Error: Critical error

    In the /var/log/messages now getting

    I disabled firewall but no change.

    As for cronjob, there are many sites, so i am trying to find what is happening at the time. Can't connect to ipmi when this happens

    Update the DC to have a fsck check on your drives and if they are having any smartctl tools also tell them to do the same. If there is any RAID like adaptec or 3ware you can ask them to check the RAID status using the RAID tools. I can be downloaded from vendors site.

    If you want to cancel the service from FSCK, they will they will threaten you with collection even before invoice due date. So, i'm going to put them on collection for their down time, loss of business, etc...
