Seeing through another's eyes..
I've been a very adamant supporter of body mods. Myself I've been pierced over 22 times, and have a beautiful tattoo on my back. My concern is how do your hosts and companies look at my "kind" ( the freaks. )? I have recently shaved my head into a mohawk and I alternate colors. Obviously I have no fear of the metal. I've ALWAYS gotten along great with teachers most of whom thought I was trouble walking into the room despite my modest 3.84 gpa. My goal in school is to dual programming and networking. I'm sure I will graduate with amazing grades because anything computer related is my passion. Am I round filing myself based on looks?

As a student, you can do & look how you like,
I feel a bit sorry for you yungsters though,
your not likely in this pc world to get kicked out of school for 'non conforming',
but us older rebels faught for your rights to look freakish, now there's little point.
Oh damm now my minds remembering the school girls fight to wear miniskirts[maxi belts],
there use to be 3 lengths, short, very short & 'Good Morning Judge'.
I have to go I simply can't concentrate any longer_____________________________________________________________

Quite possibly, unless you happen to find an employer who is like minded. First impressions are important in business, and while I don't mind most 'modifications', I will personally have second thoughts about hiring someone with loads of facial piercings (for instance), regardless of credentials. They may still be hired, but if someone with similar credentials and no decoration applied, I'd probably hire that one instead.
That may just be a personal prejudice from my upbringing (piercings and very visible tattoos weren't at all common/popular/mainstream when I was growing up).Your one stop shop for decentralization

Disclaimer: I'm just an average customer and housewife. But I'll chime in, anyway!
I do dress "alternatively" and frequently color my hair beautiful purples, reds, whatever I want. However... despite being near the young age of twenty-five, my "different" appearance, and having a pretty open mind, I think altering your body in such a permanent manner (tats and holes) is pretty frickin' stupid. Pardon my language, but it's just my own opinion. I am sure there are many other people in the world who would consider me a horrible narrow-minded knave for this or who look down on me for my alternative style of dress myself. Unfortunately for you, I would be hesitant to hire you because I would question your decision-making skills. Well, there you go, hope that helps in your quest for others opinions.Housewife Model 2000.

Appearance can tell what kind of attitude you have... now you know :-)
Hair color is fine though but tattoo with all those freaking colors in your body are not :-)

M tattoo is located on the left side of my back. It's got a ton of sentimental value.

I will say this because I have worked in retail. When I was in retail, I honestly would not hire you for our sales team, and its only because our customers (at the time) would not take you serious. If they don't take you serious, they won't listen to your recommendations, which drops down your "attachments," aka, my departments profit.
Now, other positions I wouldn't care as long as it didn't deal with customers purchasing anything. Aka, warehouse, PFT, CSA, or even an in-store installer.I use GeekStorage for all my hosting needs. They truly are the best.
A presentation without a demonstration is just a conversation.

Randy raises a key point: Will you be interacting with clients?
If so, they may have strong concerns about the many piercings. If not, it could still be an issue, but it will depend.

I've done interacting before and while I can easily handle everything with those gentlemen qualities my mom stressed, only a few people have had "issues" with how I look. My goal is go in, work away in some area clients can't go, and when I leave have my fun. I've noticed many younger people embracing the body mod world, standards may end up needing to change to adapt.
As always, thank you for your response!WHT is now used as the Universal Hosting Helpdesk.

Tattoos and piercings can't do anything to help, they can only hurt. I'd never hire anyone with multiple visible tattoos or excessive body piercings.

As a student you have no problem with your 'style',
but If you ever wish to be taken seriously as 'Any type of Professional'
in later life, your screwing youself.
Currently however much I dislike it, public opinion is that to 'look professional' is to 'be professional' and in 'Real Business' that means:
Short hair, no facial hair, suit, tie & clean shoes......... Just Like Obama, Bush etc.
If your limiting your plans to behind the scenes IT stuff, nobody cares._____________________________________________________________

Well I worked for a Sales Company you may all be familiar with Kirby but in Aussie.
Our boss did not care what we wear, He just made a fine line. Because he knew in less than a month they would all have a nice haircut a business suit and look the roll of a sales man.
Why because you simply achieve more looking professional and presentable.Automated, Secure & Low Cost cPanel Backups (on the cloud)
