Vista: How to wake up a laptop with mouse or external keyboard?
Vista Home Basic 64bit
My laptop's screen gone bad, and I am using it with an external monitor.
Also have an external keyboard. I just want to close the lid, and put the monitor over my laptop, because of the space problems. However, I cannot turn-on/off the laptop and cannot wake up from sleep mode via mouse or external keyboard.
Checked the device manager, but power management options are available only for internal keyboard and touchpad.
I have the same issue, although my screen is still working. So I bought a monitor stand from Staples, which raises the monitor up about 5 inches from the desk top, and slide my closed laptop into the space the stand provides underneath the monitor, so whenever you want to turn on the laptop, just pull your laptop out, power it up, close the screen lid, and slide it back under the stand, and your keyboard and mouse with the external monitor will work just fine.
Now my problem is, is there a way to power up the laptop from an external keyboard(USB), so that I can cut that sliding in and out step !?
