I was wondering if anybody know of any providers in Canadian datacenters, specifically Ontario/Quebec, who are now offering Dual Atom servers? I am seeing a number of US providers now, and have bought myself a $39 Dual Atom at InterServer.net, but I don't seem to be finding anything this side of the border.
I am very pleasantly surprised at how well this server runs, and may be interested in finding something that is inexpensive and closer to home.
Yup, and that's why staying local is such a hard sell for my clients, who for the most part are quite happy to have their stuff located in the US because of the significant cost differential. I do have one or two who try very hard to justify keeping servers in Canada, regardless of cost.
For me, in that case I will keep my low end "proof of concept" servers south of the border because I can't justify the cost of having it in Canada when it's really just a test bed and not producing any real revenue.
I'm not really expecting 2000GB anyhow. Would be happy with 1000GB and $60, but that's probably too low for this market.
Aside from iWeb, there aren't really any Canadian providers who are focused towards volume and low cost servers. Does the server really have to be using an atom CPU? iWeb has a dual-core Celeron server available for $69/mo, which should handily outperform an atom based server.
