Managed or unmanaged VPS?
If I get an unmanaged server with cPanel/WHM, is there much difference between whether it's managed or unmanaged?

Big difference. You need to take care of the whole system, just like you would with a regular server, to keep everything up to date and secure, while on a managed server the company hosting you will most likely take care of all that.

With managed, you can easily focus on your business without worrying anything about security, etc...

Cpanel itself doesn't means fully management. If you are not familiar with linux, I would suggest a fully managed VPS instead of unmanaged. With unmanaged VPS you will need to concern about about security, optimization, log checking, etc which might be trouble for you.

the difference between unmanaged and managed doesn't really have anything to do with what control panel you get unless all that you wanted managed was controlled via cpanel
ask your a provider as a pre-sale question what they over with their managed solutions vs their unmanaged solutions to get a better idea, different people do different things
