    ******.com?

    Hello,

I'm delurking myself after ages of reading posts quietly. I'm helping a friend develop a site for another friend, who is an aspiring model. She found ******.com and wants to sign up with them because they offer a lot of bandwidth for the money. Does anyone have any experience with ******? I ran a search on the boards, and found mostly hosting offers, and no details from a present/former customer. I want to place her with someone reliable, yet with a reasonably-priced plan which includes plenty of bandwidth for the image galleries.

    Feedback is appreciated...

You might want to check their TOS - they have rules about hosting images you might be interested in.

    Good suggestion, Darph Bobo.

    From their site:

"Binary files such as images, video and sound (i.e MP3, WAV, RA, GIF, JPG but not limited to those file extensions) may only account for a maximum of 50% of Customer's total bandwidth usage. "

That's only 15Gigs for images, which isn't bad, but isn't exactly the 30Gigs of bandwidth I was looking for.

Also something to think about - 30GB for only 10 bucks a month is only $0.33 a gig. Many hosts who promise large amounts of bandwidth will dump you like a hot potato if you dare to try and use it.

True, and I try to avoid the TGTBT hosts, especially after the Shawn Incidents. I'd be curious to see if ****** hostees have had a problem with bandwidth usage.

    Hi Fayte,

    Check out this thread:

Brendaj had a hosting "nightmare" with ****** you might want to ask her about it.

As Darph said when they offer a lot of BW for cheap they are counting that you won't need to use it so they will dump you in a second if use it! You might want to check the thread on AWH about hosting companies dumping customers who use the BW offered to them! Go with your TGTBT feeling on this one!

Sounds like her nightmare was that she didn't get her welcome email - she also never says whether or not she used an email address associated with the domain being hosted. She sounds pretty green - maybe she should have followed up with them?

    Spam

I've just received what appears to be Spam promoting ******.com.

    Draw your own conclusions.

spammers, especially spamming hosts. Funny that I didn't see them listed on Hostsearch, but they were on Linkz. Ha! I discovered this after my friend found them.

I think I'll suggest she go with one of my first choices, including Tera-Byte.

    Thanks everyone for your input!
