Hi I am in desperate need of help with Plesk, I have tried asking on the Plesk forums on the Parallels site but got no help, I've always had a lot of response from the helpful people on here so I thought someone might have tried the same thing:
I have Plesk 8.6 running on Linux. I have www.test.com running on the server perfectly. When I set it up I ticked the option for www. so now the Plesk server responds when you browse to either www.test.com or just test.com. What I want to do is use a 301 redirect so that when you browse to test.com you get send to www.test.com.
Sounds like it should be easy.. But from looking on numerous sites I am still not sure if I need to be doing this in .htaccess or a vhost.conf file. Either way I have tried various bits of code in both and each time both www.test.com and test.com both work but there is no redirection.
Has anyone else been able to get this to work and could help me out with this?
I would REALLY appreciate it!
I gave that code a try, this time both test.com and www.test.com both work again, but test.com is not redirected. Do you think this could mean that mod_rewrite is not installed / active? Is there an easy way to check this? I guess the htaccess file is being read as when I tried the code from the earlier post, it did break part both test.com and www.test.com, so I guess it proves that at least the server is reading the file.
I'm not sure why I seem to be having so much trouble with this, this is a standard install of Plesk on a standard SUSE Ent Svr 10 install. Everything else we have done so far on this server has worked first time.
