First let me begin by stating that reading mail logs is very torturous for me! And I'm NO expert in this area.
I have a client who was supposed to receive an email yesterday from a microsoft.com email address and then sent one today to a microsoft.com email address and neither was received.
Here are the applicable logs:
2009-07-28 18:17:02 1MVxmw-0007gi-CI => cllai <REMOVED@ REMOVED.com> F=<[email protected]> R=virtual_user T=virtual_localdelivery S=7678
2009-07-29 17:44:05 1MWJkb-0000Y1-Lf <= REMOVED@ REMOVED.com H=localhost (REMOVED.com) [127.0.0.1] P=esmtpsa X=TLSv1:AES256-SHA:256 A=login: REMOVED@ REMOVED.com S=711 [email protected] T="Email test" from < REMOVED@ REMOVED.com> for [email protected]
2009-07-29 17:44:06 1MWJkb-0000Y1-Lf => [email protected] F=< REMOVED@ REMOVED.com> R=lookuphost T=remote_smtp S=734 H=mailc.microsoft.com [184.108.40.206] X=TLSv1:RC4-MD5:128 C="250 2.6.0 <[email protected]> Queued mail for delivery"
According to this on 7/28 at 18:17:02 an email was received by the user from [email protected] but the recipient says they never received it nor is it in their spam folder.
Then it shows that the mail sent to the microsoft email address was queued for delivery. It's not in our mail queue and it seems this is a common response from microsoft/hotmail servers.
Any ideas on where else I need to look or point this guy to regarding these emails?

Find out what SERVICE
really means!--We're hostingDifferent.
Try contacting Microsoft directly.
Its simply looks like microsoft has blocked your server from sending emails.
Your email server will try for few days before giving up.
You can also flush queue for messages to go out from queue to the destination.
In the future, you can put an invisible image in the email and track the if the recipient has opened the email. You can do similiar things with links to track clicks.
Increase email deliverability and know who clicked and opened your emails.
