stores to build my own computer

Well its time for me to build another desktop computer. What are some good part stores in america where I can order parts? I used to order from the uk but I would rather not have things shipped to me from another country

Newegg (http://www.newegg.com)... not always the cheapest nowdays (on total build, they will be very competitive overall), but they still rock when it comes to shipping... even their free shipping is fast.

I normally build a computer with "free shipping" parts... saves tons of money.

Newegg is highly recommended by most people. Sometimes, I compare prices on a few items with Amazon to see if I can get a better deal there. Newegg has a much larger selection though.

    Hello,

I also suggest newegg, however I used to order a bunch of stuff from directron.com, they had good prices and quality service a few years ago, check em out.

I did amazon for a part years ago... I'm still waiting on that part!!!

Ok, only kidding... but amazon can have some crazy shipping times... almost forces you to pay for shipping...

If you don't want to build right away, try amazon...

Outside of that, maybe http://www.zipzoomfly.com and do some of the comparative shopping sites... then you can get into unmarked territory on companies....

Although, I did buy a $1500 TV from amazon... well worth the free shipping... it took two weeks to deliver... it was MUCH cheaper than newegg...

When I built my custom computer about a year maybe a year an half ago I ordered all my parts from Newegg (http://www.newegg.com). When I received them nothing was damaged and everything worked right out of the box. I heard Geeks (http://www.geeks.com) is pretty good but I do not know first hand their level of customer service.

Thanks guys I built a computer I would love to have and will start saving money for it. I have uploaded a pic and should say that Im getting a i7 which will cost 56 dollars more and will be getting a different motherboard to make all parts compatible but the estimate is around 1100 which looking at the same computer not self built was 1600.

NewEgg rocks! They ship out same day or next day (and they are about 2 hours from my house in so. cal. so I can get stuff next day if I order in the morning)

Never had a problem returning things to them, although you can't return memory so watch out for that. Also talked to their customer service a few times and that was always fast and easy.

Definitely +1 for Newegg. I ordered a laptop battery Sunday night and I received it this morning(Tuesday) with free shipping. Their prices can be beat at times, but they have a lot of product reviews and specials that come along.

    Tigerdirect is ok as well.

I use Newegg, Directron, and Microcenter. Microcenter usualy has the best prices and they are local. I'm a big fan of the newegg Daily shell shockers and the free shipping, but the RMA process is a pain in the a**.

Oh, I forgot about Fry's! We have one pretty close to the office that we use when we need something immediate. Sometimes they can have competitive pricing as well.

I don't believe we're allowed to post links.. But run a google search for 'frys electronics ads'. It gives you all the really good deals for the moment.
