    Is this a VPS?

    What's the memory usage?

What do the logs show when they're down?

    Is the system rebooting?

Yes, this is run off a VPS.

There is no lack of ram, which logs should I take a look at?

    The system is not rebooting.

'dmesg' check for the messages at the bottom.

    Check: /etc/httpd/logs/error_log
    /var/log/messages

    output of: 'free'

    or

    vmstat

    Andrew,
I had this problem on a new server that was set up a few weeks ago, In my case the named service would fail every 7 to 10 hours. The problem is that this did not show up in my initial load testing before the server went live. Thankfully there were only 2 very understanding customers on the server who accpepted my sincere aploligies (and an account credit).

The problem was caused by the server booting into the incorrect Linux Kernel. I had to edit the grub configureation file and manually change the Kernel version. This seemed to fix it. You may need to involve your VPS provider for assistance as well. Even Unmanaged VPS providers will not say no to helping to fix this.

Well, we manage our own node.

I ran a quick yum update on this VPS, and I think it seems to have fixed the problem. We haven't anymore problems as of yet, however I do suspect it was a hack attempt as a staff of mine was notified of services going offline by IM.

    Andrew,
I just noticed a short while after making that post that you most likely run your own node. I made an assumption from the 3rd post that you may not. Sorry for the mistake.

I am happy to hear you have resolved it, Hopefully it stays fixed.

    Andrew,
Now thats even stranger but as long as the VPS stays up without problem, I would not give it much attention.

You got this on the VPS or the host node?

    serverorigin,
It seems on the VPS itself, not the host node.

    Very weird.

Oh well, I'd just go through all the logs and make sure everything looks up to spec. Chase it down further if it happens again.
