Web Hosters' Wish List

What value added services and products would you like to be able to offer to your customers? Most hosters now offer domain registration as a complementary (related, not necessarily free) service.

Internet application programming could be one example, website design and development another. Web hosters have an excellent market standing that they can use to offer a horde of other services.

What are your thoughts?

tazd9t9 - I assume you're referring to customized programming projects. What type of programming requests do you get from your customers?

Also, when you say PC repair and upgrades, do you mean having a staff that will go to your customer's premises to provide services? That would suggest that your target market is customers in your local geographic area. It's a lucrative market, CompUSA charges over $40 for labor costs to install more memory in a computer, but the entry cost to get started is pretty high. You'd have to have at least one technician working with you.

Pilgrim - e-Commerce solutions like building e-commerce stores for your customers? setting them up with shopping carts, billing, designing databases, the whole shabang? What other elements of e-commerce would be included in that?

On the note of dedicated servers and colocation, aren't there reseller plans from the big players in hosting that allow you to resell private label?

Thanks for your input!

yep. several of the larger players in the dedicated market have a private label reseller option from what I've seen when I look around.

I might be seeking out web hosts who want to add a unique, server-friendly, feature-packed link-check and site map value added service. It would be server-friendly because I'd run it on my own system, but there would be an online configuration utility. Unfortunately, nobody mentioned wanting that, but does it sound like a good idea?

Santa Claus is coming to town and hes bringing me alot of gifts for my webhosting company.

Even though i'm 18-years-old I remember the stories of a Saint who did good deeds like he did. I believe you know his name.
