Setup DNS for Domain on 2 seperate hosting accounts?
Sorry in advance to Mods if I posted this in the wrong section; please move the thread if necessary.
As the thread title, I am a bit lost on how to setup my domain to two separate hosting accounts. I just want to make sure if one host does go down that my website is still up, not load balancing. E-mail is a different story and not necessary for this situation.
Say my DomainA.com is currently running on Nameservers of ns1/ns2.domainA.com. Now I want DomainA.com to also run off ns1/ns2.domainB.com's Nameservers. Mail will rely on domainA.com if website of domainA fails, traffic will flow to domainB.
Would my NS Records under GoDaddy be setup for NS1.domainA.com and NS2.domainB.com or what method?
I think your post is pretty convoluted and it's hard to understand what your goal is.
All those 4 nameservers must serve the same DNS records, if they don't you will get a round robin effect that randomly selects which record a client will get.
So 1 nameserver needs to be the master and the other 3 needs to be the slaves.
However the nameservers have nothing to do with the process of making your site point to two different hosts at the same time.
To do this you are basically forced to use dnsmadeeasy's failover service.
What it does is 'ping' one host every 2-4 minutes to make sure it's up, and if it goes down, it instantly changes the A and Cname records to point to second webhost.
