Try using the 'reboot -f' command instead of 'reboot'.

I use 'shutdown -r now' to reboot my centos and ubuntu servers.
If that doesn't work, what os are you using? reboot commands can vary from operating system to operating system.
RoseHosting, "rboot -f" worked.
morefood2001, os is centos. I tried "shutdown -r now", but it won't reboot.
Did you try the init 6 command?
Not this time. I had this problem previously, at that time, i try "init 0", that won't fix that time and have to do a reboot with ipmi.

That's why your server was shutdown and you had to perform a reboot.
