Recommend new host, like dreamhost, but not sucky

I'm a web designer and I have one hosting account on DreamHost that I use for all sorts of side projects. Nothing big, just a few blogs, test sites, ideas that may or may not come to fruition, etc . . . so I like the flexibility of unlimited domains/mysql etc. . . but I haven't been too happy with their service as of late. I'm more than happy to pay more for a reliable hosting provider, but it has to have certain features, namely:

unlimited host domains/unlimited mysql (Up to diskspace quota, obviously)
    ssh
one-click installs for popular software, definitely wordpress
    good quality support
    good uptime
    decent space/bandwidth allocations.
automatic backups of files and mysql

I looked at Cartika, and they seem like a good choice in terms of stability and support, but they don't offer ssh and the don't have one click in-stalls for word press. The one click install is not a deal breaker, but the lack of ssh is. Media Temple sounded good, but there are a lot of reviews about poor server response time and outages.

I thought about a vps, but I think its more work than I want to invest. I've admined linux servers before, but I honestly don't want to have that extra work, even on a managed vps (as I understand it, there is extra work even on managed vps).

    Any recommendations would be great.

edit: oh yeah, my budget is $20 - $30/mo. Would prefer $20, but go up to $30 if it was the right service.

I know DreamHost offers a ridiculous amount of disk space and bandwidth that you'll probably never end up using nor will they allow you to. Are you looking for a host that offers something similar to DreamHost in terms of disk and bandwidth resources?

    No location preference.
    disk space 800mb
    bandwidth under 1gb/mo
Of course I want more, because I'll probably continue to expand. but probably anything 10gb/10gb is more than enough for my needs (for now)

The requirements are good, what is your budget? If HostGator is within your budget I can recommend them - I have used them in the past and their service and support was excellent.

Requirements are Excellent, I am sure there is a few hosts out there that can accomodate those needs. Hostgator may seem preferrable but again they offer 'Unlimited', I am not opposed to those who do offer such a 'thing', Though I was thinking something in a good range for the OP.

Anywho, I am not the one to say, Though I have used Hostgator in the past and I had no issues with them what-so-ever.

    Good Luck with your ventures.

Your budget is very reasonable, you can easily get a premium provider for that much. There are plenty here. Try also looking through the reseller and shared hosting offers forums to see if anyone meets your criteria.

Your requirements are fine, but SSH is the main issue. Some hosts will require that you give them a scanned credit card/drivers license/some other form of ID.

I think that many web hosting companies will agree to give to you ssh access, if you give them a static ip.
Your budget is ok. It seems that are plenty of companies that can host you.
Before signing up, try to contact them and see how fast they reply to your messages.

Most hosts will fit your requirements. I can recommend HostGator, as I've had a great experience with them in the past. They seem to be one of the better web hosting companies, though they've gone unlimited disk/bw now...

Well since your current disk space and bandwidth requirement is not high, I will advise you to go with a basic plan for any reliable provider and upgrade to a higher plan only when your needs arises.
