I would check out Gigenet.com , I priced out exactly what you wanted and it came out to around $480 but I am sure they will knock off $80 bucks.

Might be harder considering you want it fully managed for that price, but I guess it depends what you consider fully managed. Also, DDoS protection costs serious money; some basic DoS protection is available with most providers, but none will guarantee they can stop a large DDoS attack, and if they do they're lying, unless you're paying hundreds if not thousands more for the DDoS protection.

Possibly check out AtlantaNAP/GNAX - They have Dual Quads on a lease to own plan... might save you money and then look for an outsourced management place (I've seen offers at about $30 to manage a full cPanel server).

This is a very true statement. Large DDoS protection cost a lot of money and wont be within your budget.

You can easily get that server configuration within your budget for a fully managed cPanel server. You should check out the advertisement/offer section with the post you listed.

I think it all depends what type of DDOS protection you need. A lot of providers have perimeter DDOS protection using something like a TopLayer device. Others are costlier but have more intricate anti-ddos setups.

The Cisco ASA 5505 will provide you with private IP's so all traffic will need to go through the firewall before it reaches your server. Attacks can be limited but not completely stopped.

Lot will depend on the size and type of attack. If I can ask what type of service are you planning to run and why do you expect DDOS attack (for example: website content that is always attracting attacks)?

Do you really expect a ddos attack in your server?

If it is just some minor attacks, then software can handle it and you do not need to spend that much.

These attacks can be very much controlled from the server itself. In my view you do not need special ddos protection and with your budget you should discuss about this with your dedicated server host cause some of them may even agree to do this setup for you.

no this attacks can not be managed from server it self.
because server load will raise to 500 in 1 minute
and then you can not even run netstat or iptable commands

Most hosting providers can provide you with a software virus/firewall protection. Or you can up load your own if they grant you root access for your server
