i've tried several registrars since 1996 when i've registered my first domain and found namecheap is a good balance of fair prices, good control panel and helpful support.

Namecheap currently are giving out Positive SSLs and free WhoIS guard with all their domains if that helps.
Otherwise I trust NetEarthOne.com - great support.HostGuard.net - VPS Control Panel

Yes - That does worry me.
I have admins remotely access my account for various reasons, as well as myself. I'd hate for them to flag me for fraud and send my business, with no reputable reason what so ever.HostGuard.net - VPS Control Panel

Enom and Resellerclub are good choice if you have money to deposit. Namecheap is also good to keep your more precious domains. Other than that Resellerclub and Enom are pretty cheap.

We responded about the fraudster already.
We have no issue with multiple ip addresses accessing an account. This is a very different issue to social engineering tactics to take over other peoples domains and a maze of different Namecheap accounts to try and hide thisMatthew Russell | Namecheap

I suggest that you go with Name.com. Good customer service and free Google Apps and Private Whois - they have the best value on the market.
I wouldn't touch Godaddy with a 50ft pole - they have ridiculous policies like the "cannot transfer within 60 days of updating contact information" rule, which is not an ICANN regulation. Furthermore, if you're looking for additional services like private whois, it is way overpriced.bikster.com - Quality Hosting. Affordable Prices.

I'm surprised that this hasn't been mentioned more, but I have been using Google to register all my domains since they came out with the service.
They are simply a reseller, and will either register your name through GoDaddy or Enom (historically), but you get free Google Apps. and the Whois Guard that they offer. Not that big of a deal but it's fast, simple, and $10 flat rate!

I have to agree.
You want straight to the point services.
NameCheap is great for this.
NetEarthOne is great for the price and server but they use MyOrderBox system. They keep saying they'll have their own in Quarter 3. I really hope so.HostGuard.net - VPS Control Panel

Stay away from GODADDY if you have a domain name worth money, or that has the name of a state in it. GODADDY has a "backorder" scheme in which they can make more money by taking your domain for any reason, and reselling it.
A typical scenario goes like this: The person who wants your domain makes a complaint based on allegedly wrong registrar info, or claims they received spam from your domain. Godaddy then suspends the domain while "investigating." The poor domain owner buys a new domain from GODADDY, and GODADDY can sell his original domain under its "backorder" program. GODADDY then makes money from TWO SALES.
Do a GOOGLE search, and you'll find quite a few unhappy customers.

I am a bit nervous with the this post because my one domain is registered with godaddy. If anyone makes a complaint they can suspend my domain!!
We work so hard to get traffic to the site. In a year the total promotion cost goes into thousands and then they can suspend domain just on one complain??
This is very dangerous. Have many people faced this? I am seriously considering switching the domain name if this is the case.

A lot of domains are registered GoDaddy, so I think you should be fine.
I would recommend Name.com - they have served me well with great prices, and bonuses such as a private WHOIS if you need it.

I had a bad experience with GoDaddy; their mission is only to sell you more and extract more money from you.
Moved to NameCheap a couple of years ago. They were very good for a year or so. But now they have become too expensive and bureaucratic, seem to be copying GoDaddy's highhanded style and methods.
Name.com is very good. Customer-oriented with good prices.Last edited by jorchav; 07-24-2009 at 04:06 PM.
