Red face where to get phone verification registeration service?

you know when you sign up with certain hosts, they send out SMS message or a phone call asking you to enter the confirmation code.

Where can i get this service, and how much does it cost ?

I wrote something like that for one of the forums I run. We were getting loads of problems with trolls signing up, so I set it so that you had to ring up from a line with CLI enabled and enter the code on the website. I also locked it down so that the phone number could only be used once.

I get a few moans about it, especially from international callers, but luckily the forum is so well established I can get away with saying 'if it's not worth the few pence it's going to cost to make the call, we don't want you here anyway'.

Anyway, it's just an Asterisk process running on an old server with a SIP line fed into it, an AGI script in Perl, and a couple of sound files that I recorded through the phone handset. Pretty straight forward to set up.

If you're still none the wiser and want something done for you, drop me a line on chris at netrino.co.uk and I'm sure I can knock something up for you.

    Cheers, Chris

Should have said, if you want to give it a go (obviously you won't have a code to enter, but that doesn't matter) you can call +44 2070 997580. Not sure where you are in the world, but just so you know, that's a standard London landline number, not premium rate.

    Cheers, Chris
