Help needed with configuring sendmail ...

Hi to all. I need a help. Do you someone of you know some tutorial or a good how to which will help me to make a correct configuration of mail server. I want to set up a mail server with e.g three domain names and all three domain names will have few similar email addresses like info, sales, marketing and so on. I know that this can be done by using control panels but I am not big fan of control panels I want to do a pure Linux administration using the command line.

    TIA

    Dear dacho,

Use Exim instead of sendmail. I agree that sendmail is the common SMTP server which ships along with Unix distros, but considering the factors like ease of configuration, security, email filtering, spam filtering etc, Exim is the best.

Check their homepage "http://www.exim.org/" for more information.

If you take an analysis of the MTA survey at http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/sysa...l-servers.html , you can see MTAs in the order sendmail, postfix, Qmail and Exim.

I personally don't prefer using Qmail since its untouched for more than 12 years, but Postfix is a good choice.

It is not as flexible as Exim, if it comes to administration and configuration, but is very efficient than the latter.
