    MySQL performance benchmarks

    Hi!

I have published 2 articles about MySQL benchmark results. They can be viewed here:

    - super-smack: http :// blog.a2o.si/?p=4
    - sql-bench: http :// blog.a2o.si/?p=27

If you have any results to compare, please let me know, either here or via comments.

    Best regards,
    b.

PS: Sorry for the link inconvenience. I am new here and cannot submit normal links as long as I do not post 5 posts.

This is very helpful, thanks! It would be fun to do side-by-side benchmark tests for the top servers on various tasks and publish results.

    Similar Benchmarks for SQL Server?

I can only find old benchmarking info for SQL Server. Is there any for 2008? I'd like to see MySQL and SQL Server in equivalent stacks going head-to-head in different load scenarios. I know everyone has their preferences, but shouldn't someone do some neutral testing on implementation and performance?

Why don't you do it, then?

I can't really see the point of knowing what the relative performance of mysql and mssql on the same hardware is, given the order of magnitude difference in overall software+hardware price of putting them on that hardware. Which one gets you the best performance for a given budget limit would be of slightly more interest, but still not much. Other factors are usually dominant in choosing which is appropriate for a particular scenario.
