Many of the big providers have servers in multiple data centers. If I remember correctly, knownhost, who is a reputable VPS provider, has locations across the US.

JaguarPC has servers in The Planet(Houston, TX), The UK(Not sure where in the UK), GNAX(Atlanta, GA), and a few other places. I do not know if they have VPS servers though, I know they do dedicated servers in all those places.

Then there's FsckVPS, they have Atlanta, L.A., and Dallas.

That's all that I know of, sorry

Its very common to have multiple datacenters nowadays, almost any large provier provides this service. If they don't advertise on their page, just ask them.

Linode (http://linode.com) has datacenters in New Jersey, Atlanta, Texas, and California.

They pool bandwidth per account; doesn't matter which datacenter you are in.

You get two IPs; any more you submit a ticket with ARIN justification. You can transfer IPs between Linodes in the same datacenter, but not to different datacenters.

They will also move and copy your box to any datacenter at any time.

They are very versatile and should meet your needs, and better yet they have competitive pricing and have a great community backing them.

When you say multiple datacenters. Can you explain in more detail what you are planning to host and where you would like the datacenters to be located? Might help narrow it down.

Having IP addresses in different ranges is not equal to having them in different locations.

Half of the servers I run have their IP in 208.110.x.x while the other half have their IP in 69.x.x.x - they are all in the same city - actually in the same building.

The only way to know if the IPs are in different locations is with a traceroute since most core routers' reverse dns indicate where they are located.

Instead of looking, why not just get two totally different providers?

  23. #23
purchasing different range ips is in order to build openvpn, the cost would be low if any provider could provide the ips i required.

I would suggest getting multiple VPSs through multiple providers. It won't matter if they are in different data centers if the company is somhow taken out as a whole.

Good plan. I pick 3-4 great providers, mirror between them and user load balancing / dns failover. Works very well.

I hunted quite a while, and all of mine are similarly speced and priced. None over 20 bucks.
I go for smaller, spread around, than 1-2 heavier outfitted servers.
5 smaller VPSs serve better than 2 larger phat servers. Did some trial and error, and found some very great hosts.

I believe something was mis-communicated.. you're welcome to install just about whatever you like on a self-managed VPS here.
