    Best Multi-user IP KVM

I am currently looking for a new IP KVM. Right now I use a mix of HP and Raritan KVMs and I'm honestly not super happy with either of them. The main feature I'm looking for is the ability to setup multiple users and only allow them to access certain ports/devices on the KVM.

What would be the best IP KVM to look at for this?

If I am not mistaken with the Dell 2161DS-2 you would need to use their Dell Console to connect to KVM/IP right?

if you upgrade/it has the newest firmware you can access it over https, its all java based.

other wise you just use the java console that installs to your desktop. but the same thing it just connects over ssl and launches a java manager for it.

Do you need a multi computer KVM over IP that supports multiple users or just a one computer KVM that supports multiple users?

is there a limit on the number of users for the 2161-DS or is it based on the number of SIPs in the environment?

Remember, there are a LOT of KVMs that advertise multi-user multi-server but only certain number of users can simultaneously access the KVM at once.

If you are looking for a cheap solution go with the StarTech 16 Port KVM. Sure the cables are a bit bulky but if you can manage cables neatly you can get a solution for less than $1000.

Take a look at the SecureLinx Spider (http://www.lantronix.com/it-manageme...nx-spider.html). It is very small and can be easily fastened to the back of the server or the rails and doesn't need external power.
