var sidebar_align = 'right';
var content_container_margin = parseInt('350px');
var sidebar_width = parseInt('330px');
I was looking through my system logs and saw this entry.
Jul 7 02:00:07 server modprobe: FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.9-023stab046.2-smp/modules.dep: No such file or directory
What exactly does this mean and should I be worried?
Modprobe is a program which loads modules in linux OS.
Its not able to install the module so its flagging the error.
No need of worrying.
If it is a VPS, you need to contact your host to add the necessary modules. You can list the modules by lsmod command and add by modprobe "module"
Thanks for the answers. It is a VPS but I didn't try to install anything on that day
Did you try installing a firewall software or shorewall ? That would have triggered the error message.
I've had APF installed for almost a month now and it's running with BFD. Could that be it?
This is pretty common on VPSes as they have custom kernels built that differ from the one offered by the distro. You'll probably find that there is no /lib/modules/<kernel_name> directory for your kernel version and thus the log is giving you a warning.
In most cases it is fixed fairly easily via:
# mkdir /lib/modules/`uname -r`
# depmod -a
