    how to clear history?

I'm not talking about the history of the internet browser, but the history of files I had browsed through. Here's a screenshot of what I'm referring to. (I had removed the contents of the history)

Open Ccleaner and select Cleaner at right column, under Windows Explorer select all boxes and run (most probably it is selected by default)

Did it, and the history is still there, although the actual files are removed already.

No. It is pointless anyway, since CCleaner should be able to do the same.

Works fine for me (using XP Pro OS)

Try closing the Explorer window, reopen and check if still there.

Or empty out everything in this folder:

    C:\Documents and Settings\*Your-Username\Local Settings\History

    *Edit Your-Username to yours

(again you have to close & reload the window to make it disappear)

That certainly helps. Can others evade that account's file protection, though? :curious:

Okay, I guess I'll recreate an admin account, and delete my current one.

Open Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Internet Options. In general tab and in browsing history, click delete => delete history.

I would recommend using Win ASO Registery optimizer.
Works very fine for me in XP & Vista.
