    Drupal

How much knowledge is required to make Drupal work. I'm interested in learning html, css, and the like but this requires a bit of time. Would I be able to run a semi-decent looking Drupal after basic html? Or would it require months of knowledge first.

    Yes,

The Drupal install actually has a starting point (default theme) for you to play around with or change completely.

i've just had a test install set up on a domain, looks easy enough with a good bit of html and css experience.

i've used a few other cms's too. joomla was rubbish.

drupal is supposed to be one of the better ones, but a steep learning curve.

Drupal can be very confusing. You will have to do a lot of trial and error before you can really grasp the templating engine. I found there was very little in depth documentation on the output of the engine and requirements for a template.

Drupal is a very strong CMS, but there are other CMS'/blogging platforms that are easier to work with for a beginner.

drupal is very strong cms that need more knowledge to manage it.
we need to know how to create a block, menu and link.
the most important thing is we need to know cck module so you can modify drupal content.

i personally using artisteer to create drupal theme it's very easy to customize it

I advice you to read a LOT before diving into Drupal for your website. Took me about 3 months to understand it, and it still dazes me from time to time. Its templating system alone is quite extensive and sometimes plain crazy

I think a better solution would be WordPress. It's quite easy to learn and it has truckloads of available themes and extensions.

Good luck in your learning process!
