Do you eat food if it falls on the table?

Okay, so, picture this: You are out at a restaurant. You're eating a burrito and a chunk of meat falls out onto the table. Do you pick it up and eat it, or not? Does the 5-second rule apply?

I created a handy poll for this thread.

Well, not with a burrito, as that's wet and will pick up dirt and germs and whatever, but like a fry, sure, 5 seconds.

I'm really picky with my food, if I see something like a hair on it, I remove the hair but still leave that bit.. no idea why it just makes me feel ill

Most places do not properly clean their tables. You need to remember that the "industry" standards and enforcements (for the USA) for food serving places are an extremely low standard ... meaning the tables are not properly cleaned ...

So to answer ... hell no.

I rather not eat a piece of a burito that has fallen off the table. I'll just leave it there.

Well, if I were at Chipotle I wouldn't, but at home or something... 5 second rule applies.

If I am in public, I do not eat it. At home, I will, but it depends on how hungry I am and what it is. BTW, why would you eat a burrito at a restaurant. That is ridiculous.

Yeah, I would eat it. However it depends who I'm with, if I'm with some friends, I will flick it at them. but otherwise, I would eat it.

I think it depends what restaurant I'm at.. if I'm eating a burrito I'm probably somewhere like Chipotle, in which case, I'd consider it. If I'm at a place where a real person brings me my food and expects a tip afterward and it aint on my plate, I aint eatin it.

I would just make sure I know how to properly eat my food and therefore disable any chance of it missing my plate, should some fall out, thus enabling me the ability to eat it

5 second rule but it really depends on what. Like mentioned, if it's wet then hell no, but if it's chips/candy/fruit, yea for sure!

Interestingly enough, I read this title and vote NO on the poll immediately... but then I stop to think of all of the times that I pick things up and eat them after I drop them on the floor.

But I never remember eating it off the table and my first thought was GROSS. Hmmmm...

I have done it before but 90% of the time i dont.

There's more disgusting thing's i see people do though. For example people here are probably saying NO! i wont eat it but i bet one of those people who say NO! dont wash their hand's after using the restroom and still will eat like that. I think we all have ate something that has fell on a table no matter how much you wanna hide it Oh come on admit it.... oh come on stop trying to hold it in

Why each of you have to be so clean? Our body are designed to take in germs, and in fact, being a bit dirty is good for your health, according to a episode in National Geographic.

Is it just been cool to your peers that you are clean?

At a restaurant, hell no. At home, it depends on the kind of food and how messy my desk is at the time. After all isn't this what the human immune system is supposed to protect against?

Personally, I'll eat anything. Your liver is supposed to kill everything bad for you such as dirt and what not. I've eaten food off the floor (if no presticide has been sprayed that I know of). People are too scared now-a-days thats MHO.
