True, also the industry moves so fast the material could be out of date after not too long

I'm not convinced the super-secrets of web-hosting are public information. You'd have to dig or infer.
Someone writing a book i think would much more likely want to divulge more of their "secrets" because there is a good reason for them to do so.
Also, it gives a little credibility. Assuming it's not a vanity-press, it means the person is credible and experienced enough that a publisher thinks what they have to say is worth their time.

That's a typical comment from the young'ens.. perhaps i'm older than young, but younger than old.. but i do find books are more convenient to read.
The written work has a few things going for it, including better editing, a more logical style of presenting the information and a credible source.
Yes, some parts may be outdated (or severely outdated) but it depends on what you're learning i suppose. I don't think the web industry changes that fast.

Hmm question for you guys: Would you rather buy a completely digital book on web hosting or a physical book on web hosting? I have been debating which would be the best way to deliver and it makes sense to me to keep a book on web hosting digital since web hosting is a purely digital topic.
What are your thoughts on this?
Thanks,
Dan

i probably wouldn't buy either...
but at least w/ a physical book, you can skim it at the store and then decide if it's any good or not.
I think it depends on your target market.

I have been looking for a useful, recent web hosting book for the last several months and I have not come across one that tells you anything you don't already know. I have found the best way to learn (even though I prefer books as well) is by reading and posting on forums like webhostingtalk. If you come across anything, please share it.

i firmly believe there is a market for a web-hosting book.. but if you write one, it depends on your actual target market (level of skill etc).
As the quote above, more intermediate people may find just the forums useful. But someone who just got laid off as a biomedical researcher and now wants to start a web-hosting business, will likely have a different level of technical expertise.
