Talking Looking for a new dedicated server

Hi, sorry for posting it here. I've searched in the offers section. Too many to choose one
I'm trying burst, which I think their servers are extremely slow. I don't know why it's that slow. I'm looking for another company which provide reliable and fast servers. Once I am there I don't want to move out. I hope I can host anything there, but I won't do gamings, casino, warez, etc.
    CPU: well...
    RAM needed: 2GB or more.
    Payment: PayPal.
    I hope there's a way I can test it.
I currently can only afford $50~80. A umanaged server is OK.
    << snipped >> Thanks.

I doubt you will find a reliable server for that cheap to be honest. What will you be hosting?

Hosts cannot contact you with offers. However, regarding your Burst server, have you contacted them about the slowness?

Yes they said "there is nothing we can do to assist you with this."

What was slow about it? I believe all nocster servers are on 100Mbps ports, but maybe you got put on a 10Mbps port?

I'll be hosting WordPress blogs with about 10,000 daily traffic. But I don't know what I'll host in the future.
Maybe I have to move back to a VPS. My last VPS was fast.

What server do you have w/ them?

Have you tried using that memcache or whatever plugin it is for Wordpress?

Have you considered upgrading to a more powerful server with Burst?

Agreed. Try upgrading your RAM and optimizing WP.

I think there are a wide variety of options for you.

    • For $50-$80 you can get a low end dedicated server
    • For that same price you can get a well maintained VPS on much newer hardware.
    • 2GB of RAM is quite a bit for a VPS, but not a bad amount to choose to ensure that the server doesn't run slow during busy or peak times.
    • Paypal is widely accepted at most hosts
    • some hosts can let you see a fat test server to make sure you are satisfied with the performance and support

I hope you find what you need.

But it's the same site with wp-super-cache enabled that I hosted on a VPS last month. Last month it was extremely fast. The VPS's RAM is only 1GB. I thought it was time to move to a dedicated.

Were you paying more or less for the VPS?

Your current server is fine. No need to upgrade....

There are many ways to trouble shoot a problem with regards to server speed.

When you say slow, is it the connection to your site or is it the whole server?

What kind of question is that?

He is having a problem with his dedicated server not having a problem with the price....

I'm aware. I was just wondering about his budget of $80 for the server after reading about the VPS (probably doesn't make sense, don't think I worded it well).

I paid $20 less for the VPS. Only they do not accept PayPal.

Correct, all our servers are 100Mbps ports, unless they specifically ordered 10Mbps Unmetered, in which case it is still a 100Mbps port uplink, just capped at the switch/router level to 10Mbps.
