    12 month review Wiredtree.com

    cpu: 2.4 Ghz Quad core X 2
    memory: 512MB (not burstable)
    UnixBench v4.1.0 - WHT Variant score: 359.1

    ticket history:

    15 Support Low 00:10
    16 Support medium 00:10
Average responce time for tech support: 18.2 minutes.

    Pro's:

    100% uptime
server keeps peforming even when out of memory.
friendly and very usefull tech support
    nearly always 100Mb/s connection.
    free emergency backups.
    Free Cpanel + webhost panel.

    Con's:

Only provide CentOS(linux) / window server, No debian / fedora / ubuntu
Only Managed servers available Meaning the price is almost Tripple that of the unmanaged hardware equivalent.

    Conclusion:

Very good hosting company, if you are not that involved with programming, configuring your own server / linux OR just don't have allot of time available to mess arround with it yourself, wiredtree is very good choice of company, You can ask the staff anything and they will make shure it happens,
I did not use the Tech support that much But it shure was nice of them to explain us how things work like:

    - Iptables.
    - Configuring apache with modperl/python.
    - protect from Dynial of service.

After 1 year of outstanding service i switched to a hosting company that provides Dedicated servers because our needs have outgrown that of a VPS,
The price of the unmanaged server we purchased was $85 a month, the wiredtree (managed) Dedicated server is $205, And as a none-profit clan that runs on donations (mostly from myself) i had to make the switch.

I rate it 10/10 additional pylons.

    Not necessarily.

And thanks for the great review. Just curious, if you didn't want your vps managed in the first place, why didn't you look somewhere else for a unmanaged solution?

Hello and thanks for the reply,

Our community administrators + the admins of our sister communities are not that IT savvy, At the time we decided to switch from a low-budget webserver to a VPS i did not had that much of cheese of *nix servers myself (2 years of running a linux desktop, with little or none server functionality). we wanted to make sure our community was kept in the right hands, wiredtree did all what we expected from it, but now that we gained enough experience and have more faith in our own skills we decided to move away from the managed service field.

so the answer is simple, We actually did want a managed server in the first place, but we outgrew the need of one after 1 year.

we now host at hivelocity if anyone is curious about it.

OP, if you say prices are tripple, I'll say at most double. I made this statement because when you see very low prices, it usually means overselling or putting lots of RAM in a small server, to advertise big RAM for low prices.

Thanks for the review anyway. Good to see another happy WT client.

It may very well may be expensive to some over at wiredtree. But the support and product can't be beat. I'll keep on smiling and sleeping at night knowing my server is humming along.

When you mention of product, I thought of their hardware. Check out their site, they advertise server grade quality parts, which is a great addition.

I always wanted to try WireTree but have been happy with the hosting / servers I already have. Thank you for the wonderful review and next time I'm looking for a dedicated server I will make sure to think of WireTree
