    Dedicated server or VPS?

    Which is better for hosting?

    A VPS using Core2Quad with 300 GB space & 900GB Bandwidth or Celeron 3.0Ghz with 160 GB space & 1500GB Bandwidth?

Celeron? It doesn't really appeal to me.

I would go for the VPS. 300GB space and 900GB bandwidth, as well as a Core 2 Quad. Its probably more affordable than the dedicated server. How much guaranteed RAM do you have?

Where are you getting the dedicated server from?

I would give ServInt's VPSes serious consideration. They're positioned as Dedicated Server Replacement (DSR).

dedicated server is from burst while the vps is from buzzservers

which is more reliable? the problem with vps though is i do not know how many nodes the host put in one server. some hosts lie too so it can be more unreliable than a celeron dedicated server

    Sharmaine1111,

You bring up a good point. Too many VPS nodes on one machine will definately slow things down. Nice thing about a dedicated server is that you and only you are using its resources.

Depending on the ram and price I would go with the celeron

If the price is the same, I personally would go with the dedicated server. A Celeron 3GHz is not that slow. Also, the performance will be much more predictable on a dedicated box than a shared service.

Ultimately, performance will depend on the host.

Maybe check out an Atom? those are pretty cheap, and might outperform the celeron.

I would go with own Celeron server, if you don't know exactly how many clients will have Core2Quad machine.

It's only a 10Mbps uplink on Buzzserver's VPS's. Personally, I would grab the celeron as it's, as others have said, more predictable.

Agreed! Be sure to ask for a proof! A sort of online escort to view the number of VPS that are created on such server.

As long as the VPS node is well-managed, I'd choose it over the Celeron.

I've been caught too many times with 2-3+ days fscks on VPSs. I avoid 'em, go dedicated server.
