    Review: MDDHosting

    I've been with MDDHosting since January and found them through WHT. Prior to them I was with a budget site that was unreliable with constant downtime and extremely slow with the database and email.

    MDDHosting's service has been excellent and top notice thus far. We love the speed of the site, the uptime, the support when needed (few and far between), and the features (the automatic backups are wonderful especially). There are so many avenues of support from your basic email and forums to AIM and Skype. Their email service is also quite good; using IMAP and setting it up on various clients Blackberry's they get their emails pushed to them via BIS (Blackberry Internet Services) in one minute or less.

    As far as pricing is concerned it is quite fair; I even got a nice discount from them using a coupon found on WHT.

    The only dockage of points would be for downtime during the day a few months ago when I personally used our web application we have hosted (understandable). This was an isolated incident that did not last very long and the impact was minimal. Michael the owner even replied to me via Skype right away. Since this incident (I believe in Feb. or March) it has been rock solid and as fast as ever.

    The great thing about MDDHosting is that they are always looking to improve. In the short time I've been using them they upgraded there servers to use the latest and greatest SSD storage solutions and implemented a great automatic backup system.

    Overall I would rate MDDHosting 9.7/10.

    Good to see yet another happy customer of Michael. Due to unforseen circumstances I will be leaving MDD, However, This is not a reflection to their services or support they have given over the last year of successfull service.

    Their has been a point where downtime was incurred though was fixed in due time. That has been the only pitfall but Michael answered all of those questions promptly and had these fixed.

    I was not saying that his services were bad, I do realise downtime cannot be inevitable though it happened more over a period of 4 times in 2 months.

    Anywho, I am not here to damage michael as I have had quite a good experience with them.

    Yes I realise that, I was just pointing out that it can happen to any host, hardware issues, runaway processes, abuse of resources, etc.

    It's the way the host deals with these issues, that defines a good host, average host, or bad host.

    Mike from Mddhosting, from seeing his posts, reviews, and speaking to him, seems to me, to fall in the 'Good Host' category. I've never hosted with him myself though.

    Yeah, they signed up using a coupon from WHT back in January so I would think they knew about WHT before they were a MDDHosting customer, at least... unless they have a time machine

    Unforeseen circumstances where you will be hosting your own accounts on your own server because you are now your own full-fledged host? I'd hardly call that unforeseen

    Yep, we did have around 4 short outages in one month that affected our most populated server at the time, each one was around 5 minutes or so as each time we ended up having to reboot the server - and all for very similar reasons and we've taken actions to prevent this in the future however in a shared hosting environment there is always going to be that one person that thinks they can do something that requires a dedicated server in a shared environment
