Thumbs down Stay away from NetHostSpace

I was going to post this to WHT earlier, but I got too busy and my problem was resolved, so I didn't bother. Now a new problem has arisen, so my original post plus additional commentary has found its way here.

I know there have been problems with these guys in the past. Unfortunately, I only found out by searching through the forums after my bad experiences with them. First off, their checkout doesn't even work. Their e-mail support is unresponsive, and the only way I've been able to get ahold of them is through their live chat and yahoo messenger. Bottom line, these guys are horrible. If you want the details, read on, I've logged everything.

I ordered my package late April of this year. I have another domain I wanted to add. Upon asking support, the agent said I needed a reseller account:

    (3:28:14 PM) me: hello?
    (6:44:02 PM) me: you there?
    (9:49:27 PM) sampathnetweb: hello
    (9:49:32 PM) me: hey there
(9:49:38 PM) me: is this kevin?
    (9:49:41 PM) sampathnetweb: yes
    (9:49:48 PM) me: listen
(9:49:55 PM) me: i set up my hosting package a couple months ago
(9:50:01 PM) me: i bought a package that offered unlimited domains
(9:50:14 PM) me: but i can't point my other domain to another directory in plesk
(9:50:18 PM) me: how do i do that?
(9:50:26 PM) me: i can only create a domain alias
(9:58:43 PM) sampathnetweb: reseller username ..?
    (9:58:53 PM) me: reseller?
(9:58:55 PM) me: not a reseller account
(10:00:37 PM) sampathnetweb: then you cannt add domains...
(10:00:48 PM) me: but your site clearly says unlimited domains
    (10:00:56 PM) sampathnetweb: no
(10:01:08 PM) me: yes it does http://www.nethostspace.com/
(10:01:09 PM) sampathnetweb: you nee to signup with reseller plan
(10:01:25 PM) me: look at the minimb plan
    (10:01:33 PM) me: unlimited domains
    (10:01:35 PM) sampathnetweb: no
(10:01:51 PM) me: what do you mean no? i am reading it right here:
    (10:01:51 PM) me: »
    50 MB Web Hosting
    »
    40 GB Web Traffic /mo.
    »
    1 Domain for Lifetime
    »
    UNLIMITED Mail Space
    »
    UNLIMITED Domains*
    »
    UNLIMITEDMysql MSsql
    »
    MS FrontPage 2002
    »
    ASP,ASP.NET,PHP,Perl
    »
    PLESK 8.1 Reloaded
    »
    Flash, ColdFusion MX
(10:02:48 PM) me: in fact - i have the megabyte plan
(10:05:26 PM) me: it says unlimited domains on your website
    (10:10:40 PM) me: kevin?
    (10:10:41 PM) me: you there?
    (10:15:08 PM) me: hello?
(10:15:27 PM) me: what do i need to do to get multiple domains?

After not responding, I decided to contact their live chat agent. The agent sent me a payment link promising that I would have the functionality after I paid. After doing so, the agent told me to forward the receipt over to sampathnet@gmail.com and my functionality would be activated. I did so, and the agent, Lio D, verified it was received. He then said it would take 8 hours to authorize. I thought this to be weird that they needed to authorize it since my payment was already processed. I prematurely ended the chat and lost the transcript, but I contacted them again through live chat:

Chat InformationPlease wait for a site operator to respond.
Chat InformationYou are now chatting with 'Lio D'
    Lio D: yes
    you: hey it's me again
you: i thought you said it would be quick?
you: 8 hours seems long to me
    Lio D: no
you: anyway i can get it sooner?
you: before i paid you told me that you just had to verify it and it would be added
Lio D: no we need to wait till order authorize..
you: the order is authorized - i have funds deducted from my account already
you: that's the nature of credit card payments
    Lio D: pls be back
you: i don't understand what that means
Lio D: wait till it authorize
you: authorized by who? I have payment verification already - my funds are deducted from my account
you: Business Name: 2Checkout.com (The recipient of this payment is Verified) Email: sales@2co.com Total Amount: -$20.00 USD Fee amount: $0.00 USD Net amount: -$20.00 USD Item Amount: $20.00 USD Shipping: $0.00 USD Handling: $0.00 USD Quantity: 1 Invoice ID: 4087550025 Date: Jun. 7, 2009 Time: 19:30:09 PDT Status: Completed
Lio D: they email us if the order authorize
you: if it wasn't authorized, i wouldn't have received the receipt
you: which i forwarded you already
Chat InformationThank you for chatting with Sales Support. We are here 24/7 to help you.

The agent ended the chat on me, so I tried to contact them through Yahoo again:

    (11:39:33 PM) me: hello?
    (11:39:41 PM) sampathnetweb: hwello
(11:39:41 PM) me: kevin - your support team is a joke
    (11:39:50 PM) sampathnetweb: yes
(11:39:55 PM) me: i was just on live chat with someone on the website
(11:39:58 PM) me: and they just ended my chat
(11:40:05 PM) me: i just paid another $20 to have unlimited domains on my account
(11:40:10 PM) sampathnetweb: yes when u ask stupid qes yes
(11:40:18 PM) me: what stupid question did i ask?
(11:40:26 PM) me: now you're calling your customers stupid?
(11:40:27 PM) sampathnetweb: dont ask same thing again and again
(11:40:27 PM) me: are you kididng me?
(11:40:36 PM) me: im not asking the same thing again and again
(11:40:52 PM) me: your company is a joke - i cannot believe you treat your customers this way
    (11:41:13 PM) sampathnetweb: wait 8hrs
(11:41:41 PM) me: for authorization? that makes no sense to me - but fine - i will wait 8 hours

So it looks like their "support" is a one man show. Upon further investigation, it looks like the guy is in Sri Lanka, assuming the person owning the username is the same person as the Yahoo Messenger ID:

    http://www.phplinkdirectory.com/foru...hp/t-5980.html

I've stayed with them up until now because, well, their service is dirt cheap, and I don't have mission critical sites with them. But this next event took the cake. My new domain's mail wasn't working, and I e-mailed and IMed them for weeks before they responded. Finally, when they did, here is what took place:

info: Please wait for a site operator to respond.
info: You are now chatting with 'Lio D'
    Lio D: hi
you: Lio, i need help with my domain
    Lio D: yes..?
you: i set up mail in cpanel, but it still doesn't work
Lio D: virus guard running on the server..
you: does that mean i can't get mail?
Lio D: you need to wait till it finished.
    you: when will that finish?
    Lio D: 2hrs
    you: ok
you: you'll take care of it for me in 2 hors?
    you: *hours
    Lio D: yes\
    you: ok
    you: thank you

2 hours go by, and I IM their "support" again:

    (3:06:24 PM) me: hello?
(3:06:27 PM) me: any luck on the mail?

No response. I give them another hour and a half.

    (4:39:28 PM) me: hello?

Still no response. Finally, tonight, I see them online:

    (11:36:42 PM) me: hey
    (11:36:47 PM) sampathnetweb: y
(11:36:49 PM) me: i messaged you earlier, but you were away
(11:36:53 PM) me: any luck on the mail for my domain?
(11:37:13 PM) sampathnetweb: itll take some time to fix
(11:37:17 PM) me: how much time?
(11:37:23 PM) me: did you start on it yet?
(11:37:32 PM) sampathnetweb: we have reported this to plesk support
    (11:37:43 PM) me: it's a plesk issue?
(11:37:48 PM) me: is there anything you can do manually?
    (11:37:49 PM) sampathnetweb: yes
(11:37:58 PM) me: i try pinging the mail server and it is unresolvable
(11:38:01 PM) me: seems like the account wasn't even set up
(11:39:14 PM) me: is it possibly a mailenable issue?
(11:39:56 PM) me: because it works for my other domain
    (11:44:19 PM) me: you there?
    (11:51:33 PM) me: hello?
    (11:51:42 PM) sampathnetweb: Y
(11:51:49 PM) me: you see my messages?
(11:52:01 PM) sampathnetweb: I TOLD YOU
(11:52:11 PM) me: you told me what?
(11:52:14 PM) me: i asked you questions after that
(11:52:21 PM) me: you got a real attitude problem, you know that?
(11:52:33 PM) me: this isn't the first time, and i've been asking you for weeks for help on my mail

I haven't gotten a response from him since. Anyway, buyer beware. I wouldn't recommend this clown of a company to my worst enemy.

I'm sorry you had to have this experience with NetHostSpace, they really do sound rude judging from what is provided above. My advice to you is find a different webhost and just move on and keep post about your experience with them nd hopefully eventually the word will get around and they will have no other choice than to stop their services. If you are looking for a Shared hosting server please PM and I can see what I can do to help you out.

Well some of the replies are really funny, but at the same time that is sad situation and I hope you will be able to get your backups and be happy with another web hosting provider.

"You get what you pay for" definitely seems to apply.

To tell you the truth, I burst out laughing at some of the replies as well. This is the type of behavior I'd expect from my buddies. We bust each others balls all the time. But I wouldn't expect it from my hosting provider or any of my service providers for that matter. It's true. You get what you pay for. I'm an idiot to expect top notch service, but there's no excuse for this type of treatment.

wow,I read through the whole thing and I really though that an automated bot system was responding to your queries,"Yes","No"
and The person on the other end should have been more polite, that's for sure.
    any way,thanks for the upload,and hard-luck.

I suppose that is not a bot or at least bad bot as there were some typos in the replies
