    sql db move to new host (for beginners)

    I just moved a website I took over to a new host. The programmer hard-coded the DB in. The old code refers to the mediatemple address:

    mysql_connect("", "db5363", "-removed-") or die ('I cannot connect to the database because: ' . mysql_error());
    mysql_select_db("db5363_bb", $link)

    Can anyone tell me how I can configure this for the new (CPanel) IGX Host server?

    What is IGX Host? Anyway, if you have already moved the database over your new cPanel server, the mysql connect string should look like this:

    mysql_connect("localhost", "db5363", "-removed-")
    If you haven't moved the database over yet, have your new provider do that for you as it may need some coordination with MT.

    Your new provider will give you a new database name and probably a new username/password as well. You'll want to update that string as such.

    mysql_connect("database-server", "<username>", "password") or die ('I cannot connect to the database because: ' . mysql_error());
    mysql_select_db("database_name", $link)

    Database-server will probably be either localhost or Your new provider can give you that information in addition to everything else.
