Binary Canary Reviews?

Anyone use Binary Canary(the website monitoring company)? Like to get some feedback before I sign up for the paid plan.

How are they with false positives etc.

We've been using them for our monitoring (leaving Pingdom) for two weeks. They've been good on the whole . You just have to be aware that a monitor is from each location, such as, if you want to monitor one of your servers from three locations, it will take up three monitoring slots rather than one.

We kept our account with Pingdom running this month, with the same servers being monitored on each, they both are chiming in at the same times. On e-mail and SMS for both.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah, a tad confusing but they still end up cheaper than pingdom.

Pingdom was great when they had that crazy deal like 80% off their yearly plans. With my huge renewal coming up, I need something more reasonable.

I like their website, just wanting to get some more feedback on reliability.

Yeah, who needs monitoring from Pingdoms 10+ locations at any rate? . On most I'm just placing one in the USA, one in the UK, then one a bit further.

I'm in the same sitution with Pingdom, don't want to pay the massive re-newal fee compared to their start-off fee which ropes you in.

Their panels seem very much the same in terms of features, I'd probably say I like the Binarycanary panel. When I've come at them with questions and one problem which I had I was satisfied with their response/resolution.

---

I'd suggest using them in sync for a month like I'm doing, to see how it compares (haven't been able to find a fault yet).

As many locations as better.
Maybe that would be worth to have some free monitoring included as well?
Just to have a batch of the locations your server will be monitored from

Do you have a secondary or junk server anywhere?

I would suggest setting up nagios. It's rather interesting and really easy to use.
It's free, and can do whatever you want it to.(should be versed in php)
