Top Gear's Stig is finally unveiled
The Stig test drives cars around the Top Gear track in Dunsfold Park, Surrey, and trains each week's guest for their lap for the Star in a Reasonably-Priced Car feature.
His identity has a closely guarded secret although many people have speculated that the famous white overalls and helmet are shared by several drivers.
Silly rumours about the Stig have been used to add to the mystery surrounding the character who never speaks to camera.
Who is the Stig? Well who else....

If you watched it till the end you would learn that they hinted it was just a stunt.... or was that just a bluff? lol

Yeah, it was stated at the end that 'Michael Schumacher' might not be The Stig', the end credits also stated him as a Special Guest and a BBC spokesperson said remember that Top Gear is a entertainment show.

If the Stig is infact Michael Schumacher, I definitely wouldn't have guessed it in a million years.

Naw remember he just recently retired from F1 no way he could have been the stig and ran F1 all this time.
Not everyone is allowed to drive the Ferrari FXX and Schumacher is one of the few who can, which is why I am guessing he was on the show as stig for the episode.

All fake. They only had him on because the FXX was actually his own personal one.

I highly doubt it's him. The "Star in a Reasonably Priced Car" originally had the stig as the first driver (AFAIK) to set the benchmark.. He never had such problems as Schumacher did.

How much do you think it would cost to insure him on some of the stunts he has done? There is no chance in hell its him.

Publicity stunt, but fun. To have him there every week for filming would be impossible. Stig is a variety of competent professional track drivers.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/4286...he-answer.html
Perry McCarthy, a former Formula 1 driver, was the original Stig, wearing black overalls for his appearances.
He left the show in 2003 - when a "new" Stig, dressed in white, took over - and later disclosed his identity in an autobiography.Last edited by imadmin; 06-22-2009 at 11:46 AM.

I was excited until I found it was a joke I think the mystery behind the Stig probably helps ratings a lot so I would not expect a full answer until the show is canceled at some point which I hope is never

"The black unstriped Ferrari FXX, owned by Michael Schumacher, was exhibited on the BBC's Top Gear show on 21 June 2009. "
Says it all really.
There is indeed more than one - I know of three but IIRC there are 6 drivers.
