The Q9550 will have better Processing power compared to the E5200 as it is a Quad Core Processor VS Dual Core Processor; however you will get better i/o read/write speeds with the E5200 since you are utilizing SAS 15K RPM drives which is 100% faster than the 7200RPM SATA drives.

I think the 15K SAS drives in HW RAID is a bit of overkill for an E5xxx class CPU... And probably the opposite applies to the other server, the Q9550 may be overkill for the standard SATA Drives...

I guess it all depends on what you're doing and if it is more CPU or Drive I/O intensive. If it's Database heavy, then you'll want the Drive I/O, but you'll want to pair it with a faster processor, otherwise you'll be hurting there.

For general web hosting purpose, the first server will be a great one. If you are running databases on the server, the second one of course.

Yes. If you are running forums, I'll suggest the second server. However, if the forum is very busy, you may need to upgrade the CPU of the second server to a quad core.

Take the second server then. By the way, how much are the servers respectively and at which datacenter?
