    exim mail server failing to send email

    Just started to have problems sending emails out but no problem receiving.
    Seems to be a exim problem.. tried updating it but the problem still exist but everytime I restart exim then it works for a few hours before the problem comes back.

    What is the exact error message that you are getting on logs. Also try the following command from shell and replace mail_id with a valid mail id

    mail -v mail_id

    It should give you the exact reason/ error code.

    Don't think its a IP being block.

    client trys to send email from his outlook but the mail server doesn't accept the email so the problem is unable to connect to mail server and the only problem that can work is to restart exim but the problem comes back within a few hours.

    I ran the tail -f /var/log/exim_mainlog and its still running after a few minutes..

    Paste the output here if you can or PM me. The -f argument to tail will follow the log file and the command won't exit to the terminal/shell. To exit, you will have to press Ctrl + C.

    Before restarting exim try fetching error from the mail log and see what error are you getting. Also if the problem only when sending mails using outlook? Then probably it may be an issue with the account settings in outlook.

    It is not an outlook problem because it has the same problem with other email software.

    What error do you get from the mail log?
