How to reset MySQL password for XAMPP


Hi,
I have a xampp install on my Home PC(Windows) for testing scripts. I forgot the password for mysql as didn't use it for while. now Phpmyadmin won't connect.

how do i reset password for Xampp?

There should be a security.php inside xampp folder of htdocs, you simply need to call it through the browser which is able to reset the mysql pass.

You can also look in your mysql ini file in your windows directory.

Start -> Run -> type: %Windir%\my.ini -> "Ok"

Your root username and root password will be in that file in plaintext. At least its always done that on my windows mysql installations.
