    What is the server spec for this plan in terms of CPUs speed and RAM ? It sounds quite tempting.

    our host servers are running the following CPU specs:
    Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7200 @ 2.53GHz @ 30C

    the amount of ram on the host boxes varies - typically 4 - 6 gig per host box (we even out the high and low plans to balance the load).

    all connected via 100mbps uplink.

    we watch both very carefully to ensure the boxes aren't overloaded.

    Let me thank everyone for the interest - we got more signups than we thought we would - we're ready for it though.

    We will be bringing some more servers up in the next few days.

    Thanks to everyone for the interest in the product, and don't forget, custom configurations are possible - tell us what you need and we'll give you a quote in a matter of seconds - let me go ahead and post one particular request / quote that we've accepted below:

    This plan isn't on our site - you have to request it (contact us and ask for a quote and refer to this post).

    Quote 1: Nano VPS
    * 1 GB Disk
    * 30 GB Bandwidth
    * 64 MB RAM / 128 Burst
    * 1 IPv4 Address
    * Price: $3.19

    (yes, that is ~ three dollars - didn't think it was possible did ya?)

    We will accept almost any configuration and give you an industry-leading quote.

    What type of disk - SATA or SAS? what rpm?

    RAID 1, 5, or 10?

    Do you offer any data backup?

    No backups (at least not yet - we have plans to make it easy for you to make your own backups)

    SATA disks - 7200 rpm.

    no raid.

    no cpanel or other proprietary software included - although you're free to install your own.

    and all new orders are on hold until later today or tomorrow - we've run out of hardware - expect to wait 24-48 hours.

    We have make our own control panel - it's not pretty, but it does what it should.

    A full working demonstration (meaning everything works - os reloads the works) is available at http://cp.s1.ramhost.us/vps/ - user demo pass demo to try it.

    Cpanel needs 256mb RAM just to RUN. 512Mb is recommended
    And your control panel seems functional. does it uses HyperVM API or its completely different?

    It's completely different The front end is based on our shared hosting panel (also a custom job) and the back end is just a collection of php script's with some sudo powers running over lighttpd.

    The front-end of the panel is actually running inside a vps - which makes it very secure - the host runs as little stuff as possible.
    (of course, i used to work for a bank so i know my stuff is secure)

    I'm a programmer on the side, so it's easier to just write my own stuff then risk my business to others. It also makes support better - nobody knows how it works better than the author.

    I think the new VPS optimized Cpanel consumes 94MB RAM.

    I read your terms & conditions. I think most of the TOS applies to your shared hosting, rather than the VPS - correct?

    Like chat scripts - if I have a shoutbox on my forum, is that considered a chat script? Are you going to limit my post to 10MB, or isn't that a PHP setting I can change myself?

    Last thing I need is my forum and databases to disappear suddenly because you think my website didn't agree with your TOS. Know what I mean?

    That may be true because our shared clients have more restrictions.

    But we have our TOS laid out so that all the shared-only terms are in their own table - right above the part about chat scripts it says "Note: This Table Applies To Shared Hosting Clients Only." - can't get much clearer than that.

    We have been meaning to clean that page up though - it is a little disorganized atm.

    Let me clarify a few points:

    If you think we could enforce something like that then you must have no idea how vps hosting works. We only care *what* you run, not *how* you run it.

    That is exactly why we would never do that - if you were violating our TOS we'd shoot you an email a few times first.

    The only time we'd make your vps disappear is if you we're doing something illegal with it like sharing pirated movies (we shut someone down yesterday for that)

    If by GUI you mean X11 then sure, you can run X11 inside a vps.

    We don't provide pre-built templates for it yet though (we plan to soon though).

    Also, we will be launching our backup feature very soon (in the next few hours - tomorrow at latest)

    Well, we now offer full data backups to a remote server on a weekly basis for all vps customers.

    You can also download a copy of the backup's we create (although I can't imagine why you'd need too)
