I would prefer to get a Windows VPS from as close to San Jose, CA (maybe something out in Market Post data center) as possible. I would like to use it mostly with Remote Desktop. Another use for it might be with shoutcast/audio streaming but I have not decided on this yet.
Please provide some pointers.
Also, I take it this will need to be Standard edition Windows licensing. Web Edition won't work since I won't be running just web applications.
Well, the ideal thing is to keep it as close to my region as possible to get the lowest latencies since I'll do most of my work through RDP. I think 10-15ms should be okay, but would be something I would want to test (e.g. if they have a free month I can test with...)
Which type of Windows VPS were you after? With a MS VPS they provider needs to pay the license fee so getting a free trial is going to be tough. If you can use virtuozzo you might be luckier but its not really made for installing software etc.
