Media Temple, Joyent, or Linode?
I'm looking for a solid VPS that will be running a blog with 35k+ monthly pageviews, one around 10k, and a small-to-medium-sized web app that's under construction (which will involve a bit of RSS parsing on a cronjob).
I'm deciding among the base plans of three hosting companies, with an eye towards expandability in the future if necessary.
I'm currently looking at
- MediaTemple's DV BASE plan mediatemple.net/webhosting/dv/
- Joyent's 1/4 Accelerator joyent.com/accelerator/pricing/
--Linode's 360 plan. linode.com/
The three companies all seem very reputable, and I've been hearing about them for a long time. (I've had recommendations from people I trust online for each of the three as well...)
I'm currently leaning toward Media Temple, but I was wondering what WHT's collective opinion would be.

Joyent looks good, and so does MediaTemple.
Good luck choosing.

Recommended using the search bar at the top of the page. I know MediaTemple is decent, theres been the odd complaint, but from what I have seen its pretty stable.

I've already done a lot of research into them, and have searched the forums, but there wasn't too much on Media Temple's DV plans, and I had a little finding anything on the other two.
In short, yes I did search first.

Linode is good if you can take care of yourself - used them in the past (NJ location), ran perfect
I've used Joyent for about two months running a Facebook application - their setup is extremely foreign to me unfortunately.
Keep in mind with Joyent:
* The 1/4 accelerator is not available for purchase on a monthly basis. The equivalent monthly fee that we would charge is $45 per month. This is the rate that would be used if you purchased a one year 1/4 accelerator contract and later decided to cancel it and request a refund.

I'm sure I can "take care of myself," if need be. I'm also aware of Joyent's one-year policy on the 1/4 accelerator. If I went with Media Temple I would do a one-year payment plan as well, for the savings involved...

If that's the case go with Linode, you won't regret it.

Use Linode or Slicehost if you can completely take care of yourself. You won't be disappointed.

I know it isn't on your list... BUT I would checkout ServInt vs. MediaTemple. ServInt offers more resources for the same price and has much better support than you will get with MediaTemple.

Linode.
When you build your site on linode, you will count months even years without a single downtime.
I've been with them for 8 months already and my vps has been online for 247 Days already.

I've always heard wonderful things regarding Media Temple. The other two I haven't heard anything about. Good luck!

mediatemple's hard ware is good but i really think it's control panel is hard to use,you have to spend to muchtime when you delete or upload files
the control panel is very silly and you can't deleted a directory and slect files to delete you have to delete single files one by one or delete them via ftp.
i install a zencart, then i spend 30 minutes to deleted it,i deleted zencart in 2 minutes in other hosting even free hosting.
then if you want to upload your scripts such magento,prestshop.joomla.you only can upload via ftp programme, and can;t upload a zip file then unzip it via cpanel,it's a waste of time to upload files if you upload, backup your site.
if you want to install modxcms, you have to switch your php version to php5,and then change many things ,and their mysql datebase is really hard to understand .
they offer one click install for drupal ,wordpress, zencart, but if you want to install other cms or shopping cart.
everything is hard to use and you have to spend too much time to run a simple script like joomla, modxcms,i have install many php scripts joomla, wordpress, modxcms, magento, zencart, prestashop.cscart and so on, on many hosting ,but i never seen so hard to install .
with hundreds of dollars they really not worth it.

I don't think that would be much of a problem for me. I'm not fussy about control panels, and I've never trusted one-click installers. I'm a heavy WordPress user, but I prefer to run an SVN checkout then configure and install it myself. I also run PHP5 exclusively.
