Tacert fail and site is not displayed on certain networls - Please help
I have a server with serverboost.nl and my site is not reachable via some networks. We have done a both way tracert and it fails after few steps. I am not sure how many networks give this error but I have already received few complaints from regular visitors to the site.
1. Who/ what networks should I contact to resolve this issue? I ave already asked ServerBoost.nl and they said TRACERT fails at Cogent network.
2.Cogent replied saying the following
"Thank you for the trace example. What you were seeing was the 1st and last hop on the Cogent network mpd01.iad01. The very next hop then transfers over to the Savvis network. I have completed a successfully trace to the destination.
Target IP address: "MySiteIP"
Tracing the route to "MySiteIP"
I had a similar problem with my host, except it was almost all tracerts failing. They were all failing at a single location, and I ran tracerts from a number of places.
I fixed the issue by checking the host's other servers and realizing that none of them were showing the same issue (or at least not very many). I asked to be moved to a different server and that fixed the issue.
If you can, check a specific server. Otherwise, just ask to be moved and hope that it's not an issue on the new server. With cPanel your host should be able to move you pretty quickly, but the nameservers may take 24-72 hours to update, depending on a few factors.
Also, note that my host was able to complete a successful trace for them, but most likely that was because it was a different path.
Changing servers isn't going to fix a network issue, if that's what it is.
Have you tried using a number of looking glasses to potentially isolate the issue?
If you want me to run some tracerts from a number of servers I have access to (both in australia, europe and US) i can look at the paths to your server and maybe see a bit clearer where the problem lies.
