Phoenix NAP Datacenter Begins Build-Out With Groundbreaking Ceremony

PHOENIX, June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Global Datacenter Trust, a leading private equity firm, announced today the groundbreaking of a new datacenter, the Phoenix NAP.

A true carrier-class facility, the Phoenix NAP features 160,000 square feet of available datacenter space with more than 20 megawatts of redundant power. When completed, it will offer colocation services for clients worldwide, along with available office space for local, regional, and international high-tech companies and clients.

"By creating colocation space and office locations for companies around the globe, we're helping the local economy and driving continued growth of its healthy high-tech sector," said Jordan Jacobs, director of operations for Phoenix NAP. "Phoenix is an ideal location for a datacenter, not only because it's in a disaster-free area, but also because the city and workforce are highly supportive of the high-tech industry."

"As one of the fastest growing regions in the U.S., recognized for an overall positive economic climate, skilled and diverse labor force and a strong infrastructure, Phoenix is the perfect fit for Phoenix NAP," said Don Maxwell, director, City of Phoenix Community and Economic Development Department. "Phoenix NAP will be a great boost to the local economy by adding high-wage jobs and capital investment for fiber network infrastructure and equipment and we are pleased to welcome them as they break ground on their new data center."

Phoenix NAP will incorporate several unique features in its design to promote efficiency, security and reliability. Power will be run from local utility substation transformers along two different geographic paths creating a fully diverse, redundant system. Additionally, critical load (IT) equipment will be backed up by highly efficient uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units, and cooled by both N+1 modular chilled water plants and N+4 CRAH units (computer room air handlers).

"From our meet-me vaults which are redundantly located near the front of the property, to the concrete-encased cross-connect room within the steel-encased meet-me room, Phoenix NAP has the redundancy and strength to provide continued connectivity to its customers and partners," said Jacobs.

The Phoenix NAP is located at 3402 E University Drive in Phoenix, AZ.
