Web hosting companys don't generally give you any documents when buying a domain name....

And I'm confused about your IP questions/statement.

Almost any host will give you the option for a dedicated IP for around 2$-4$ for one IP.

They wont give you any documents as somebody said. But you can fill the form with your personal details and usually the whois of your domains shows that details. You must check to ensure that it is registered under your name. Better to register the domain with a reputed domain registrar. Shared IP has no separate costs other than the hosting charges and for dedicated IP costs varies as ZacharyW said. Hope this helps.

The only thing a host should provide you with after a domain name purchase is a confirmation email and way for you to manage your new domain (control panel, client area, ect..). Any host should be able to provide you with ha dedicated IP if needed, the price will vary as others have stated.

hosting companies do not give you any documents. The most you can get would be the invoice showing that you bought the domain.

When purchasing a domain, as long as the domain is put into your name in the whois, and you have the "invoice" being marked as paid, that should be all the documentation you need.

Now for a dedicated IP address, these can be picked up for between $1-$2 from most providers.

Your sign up receipt is your proof for the ownership of the domain. You may also would want to check that whois is registered on your name.

You would have to ask the company you want to host with about dedicated IP address costs...typically 1-4$ a month.

Your webhosting company should sent you a receipt or some kind of form showing what yo have paid for, that should be your documents.

I know of one registrar that sends out a pdf "certificate of registration" but the vast majority don't. In reality any such document would have no legal value anyway. The important thing is that your name and email address are used for the registrant and admin contact. You can verify this using an online whois lookup such as www.domaintools.com.

I'd suggest you register your domain name through a specialist registrar such as Namecheap or GoDaddy, and then find another provider to host your site, instead of buying a package of domain + hosting together.
