Intel's Kennedy Brown and IBM's Kevin Powell show you a sneak peek of an 8 socket, 64 core, 128 thread IBM server based on Intel's Nehalem-EX processor.

I guess when these new processors are released the i7's will be a little more affordable.

Being a dedicated server provider, I just reach to my right, grab a 32GB RAM 16 core box, install Gentoo on it, open up my favorite apps, and enjoy the breeze!

Except that my 16 core box feels and sounds like the USS Enterprise NCC-1701

From my armchair, 128 threads.. hmm memory limited across 'general' workloads? Maybe the new spiffy QPI links will help. Sure would be fun to play with though, and as Unixy noted, from a safe(quiet) distance

I hope not, else you will start paying $50000 for a pentium 3 soon.

If by 'we've' you mean 'I've' and in the sense of "I'm no longer going to pay attention to AMD's developments," you may be correct. But there's plenty of more to hear from AMD.

Lol, I do see your point. AMD helps to keep Intel prices down?
