What Linux OS best for dedicated video conversion (ffmpeg/mencoder)?
Hi,
I am looking to setup a dedicated server just to convert videos from different formats to flv and mp4 using mencoder and ffmpeg.
1/ So I am wondering which Linux OS would be the best for this type of server?
2/Also, does 64 bits help to improve performance too(for video conversion using mencoder/ffmpeg)?
3/Also, this server need to be installed some sort of remote desktop, which one is the best(free)? This is for some staff who doest not familiar with CLI.
P/S: Right now i am using CentOS 5.2 32 bits and NXserver for remote desktop and the server config will be something like Q9400, 8GB RAM, 500GB HDD.
Thanks

Gnome with VNC ? CentOS 64bit would be excellent (and future proof) and works just fine with ffmpeg.
